All too often, conference presentations involve reading directly from the PowerPoint with little explanation or energy. This sadly leaves audiences bored out of their minds with no enthusiasm about the topic. In this short little blog post, we have three crucial tips to aid in making your next presentation interesting, informative and most of all engaging!

When preparing for your presentation, consider creating slides that contain a limited amount of txt, and instead plan to offer much of your information verbally! There is nothing less interesting than a ton of written words with no verbal explanation. The more you talk to your audience the more your personality will shine through as well. You’ll also want to make a point to use lots of visuals on your slides as society in general happens to be very visual. Another idea is to consider asking your audience questions, perhaps a “pop quiz” or poll to really get the conversation started. Group activities are yet another idea as these tend to bring out the best in both introverts and extroverts in your audience.

You can access adjustments via the back of the fixture or onboard a DMX controller. We recommend connecting all of them together with a DMX controller for quick and effective changes from one location. This will save you time.

Overview

These panels are a versatile fixture with features that make it a pleasure to use in the studio or on location. The light has a color temperature that’s variable from 3200 to 5600K or anywhere in between to match other fixtures or ambient light conditions or just for creative effects. Light intensity is also conveniently variable from 100 to 10% without flicker and both functions can be adjusted either on the light or remotely thanks to onboard DMX512.

It runs barely warm to the touch, allowing you to work close to the subject without causing discomfort or hot light hazards. It produces a high output of 2565 lux @ 3.3′ while consuming just 100W of power and maintaining a high CRI/TLCI rating of 96, indicating faithful and precise rendering of colors. The Square Sun 1×1′ also has a wide coverage of 120 degrees which can be modified and controlled by its removable 4-way barn doors. The barn doors have gel clips to mount diffusion and other materials to alter the quality of light.

  • Battery or AC Power The SS-12 has a multi-voltage 100-240 VAC power supply but will also run on two optional V-Mount batteries when AC power is unavailable.
  • Cool Running The Square Sun’s LEDs run barely warm to the touch allowing you to work close to your subject without discomfort and without losing time waiting for the fixture to cool down.
  • Fan Cooling The built-in fan is operated by a dedicated on/off switch. To avoid noise that can be picked up by a microphone, the fan can be turned off. Like most LEDs, there is a power drop when the fan is turned off, but the Square Sun only minimally drops to 80% brightness. If you’re operating at less than 80% brightness, there will be no change.
  • Barndoors with Filter Clips The included removable barn doors have filter clips to attach diffusion and other light modifying materials.
  • Single Shadow The recessed LEDs bounce the light off the interior reflector and they are softened by an integrated diffuser panel yielding a bright and punchy light with a soft wrap-around quality that eliminates multiple shadows often associated with LED lighting.

Confidence Monitors

A confidence monitor is widly popular among presenters and put simply it is a versitile way to display improtant information to the presenter. A confidence monitor is a video display, anywhere from 32” to 60” in size, that sits on the ground at the foot of the stage. This allows presenters on stage to see what slide is on the screen(s) without turning their backs to the audience.

Screens you say?!? Yes, thats right. You can synnchronize multiple screens to see, for example, 3 different slides in a slideshow.

Got a few notes for each slide? No problem! New powerpoint, song lyrics or even a timer? Piece of cake. Confidence monitors are your answer!
